One of the popular rock bands in the late 70�s was the B-52s. At its peak the band was comprised by Cindy Wilson, Fred Schneider and Kate Pearson who were the lead singers accompanied by Ricky Wilson at the guitar and Keith Strickland at the drums. The unique feature of the band was the surf style guitar and the �go � go beat �of the drums as well as the �guys vs. gals� vocals. Some of their greatest hits which characterized this style were �Private Idaho� and �Good Stuff�.

They were known for their fun loving vibrant music whose songs featured imaginary boastings like in� Girl from Ipanema Goes to Greenland" and "Rock Lobster". Other songs like Strobe Light and Hot Pants Explosion dwelled on wild romance while songs like �Love Shack� and �Deadbeat� concentrated on the beauty of wild youth.

In 2008 the band rechristened itself as �B-52s� by dropping the apostrophe of its original name �B � 52�s� and this was confirmed by their vocalist Schneider in an Arizona Daily Star interview in June 2009.
