Famous People From Arizona

Frank Lloyd Wright was born on June 8, 1867 and passed away on April 9, 1959. He was an American interior designer, architect, educator and writer. He was part of the design of over a 1000 projects of which more than half became completed works. He was a proponent of organic architecture a style seen in Fallingwater. He was also an ardent supporter of the architecture movement known as Prairie School as can be seen in the Westcott House and Robie House.

He also developed the idea of the Usoniam home as seen in the Rosenbaum House. His contribution comprises of many new and original examples of several different types of buildings such as churches, museums, schools, offices, hotels and skyscrapers. He was also involved in the interior design of his creations mainly stained glass and furniture.

Wright has written several articles and over 20 books. He was a successful lecturer in the Europe and United States. His personal life was very vibrant and often made news, notable among them were the murders and fire at his Taliesin studio in 1914.

He was quite popular while he was alive, but even after his death Wright was honored in 1991 as "the greatest American architect of all time” by the American Institute of Architects.
